Many of you may not be aware of what has recently taken place in Canada.
Bill C-9 has now passed.
For many Canadian Christians, this marks a profound turning point.
The legal landscape has changed in ways that place traditional Biblical teachings in conflict with modern law and public policy. Now reading verses about sexual morality can land you in jail for 2-5 years.
For the first time in my 44 years of life, I find myself asking a question that I never imagined I would have to ask in Canada:
Could proclaiming certain Biblical teachings one day carry legal consequences?
That question alone should give us pause.
Throughout history, Christians have often lived in societies where openly proclaiming the Gospel came at a cost.
The first Christians faced imprisonment, persecution, and exclusion.
Yet they remained faithful.
As Templars, we are reminded that courage is not the absence of fear.
It is faithfulness despite uncertainty.
St. Michael did not stand because it was easy.
The Apostles did not preach because it was safe.
And the Templars did not protect pilgrims because the road was free from danger.
They stood because truth was worth defending.
Today, Canadian Christians are entering a season that demands discernment, courage, and unwavering faith.
The world may change.
Laws may change.
Cultures may change.
But the Gospel does not.

The world does not suffer from a lack of information.
It suffers from a lack of conviction.

The original Templars did not take vows because it was easy.
They stood watch on dangerous roads so that pilgrims could travel safely to worship God.
They understood that civilization survives only when good men are willing to stand between the innocent and those who would do them harm.
Today, the roads are different.
The threats are different.
But the need remains.
Who will stand for truth when lies are popular?
Who will defend the weak when it is inconvenient?
Who will remain faithful when the world rewards compromise?
The Templar calling is not about seeking conflict.
It is about carrying light into darkness.
It is about becoming a man of discipline in an undisciplined age.
A man of faith in a faithless age.
A man of courage in a fearful age.
Under the protection of St. Michael the Archangel, may we have the wisdom to discern, the strength to endure, and the courage to stand firm when others retreat.
Not for glory.
Not for recognition.
But so that those searching for God may still find a clear path.

In a world where truth is often negotiated, where noise replaces wisdom, and where many walk in darkness searching for meaning… we are called to reflect.
Not simply to react.
Not simply to consume outrage.
But to stand firm in faith, discipline, truth, and courage.
The Templar was never merely a warrior.
He was a protector of the path.
A guardian so that pilgrims could seek God in safety.

Today, the battlefields may look different.
Confusion. Moral chaos. Fear. Division. Spiritual emptiness.
But the mission remains the same.
To discern truth from deception.
To stand when others kneel to the world.
To act with honor when cowardice becomes fashionable.
Under the protection of St Michael the Archangel, may we never forget that faith is not passive.
We are called to carry the light.
To be the shield.
To stand between darkness and those seeking peace.
