2 Timothy 2
2 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men,[a] who will be able to teach others also. 3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6 It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. 7 Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, 9 for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! 10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 The saying is trustworthy, for:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
12 if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—
for he cannot deny himself.
A Worker Approved by God
14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God[b] not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,[c] a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some. 19 But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable,[d] he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant[e] must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
My morning devotion seems like marching orders from the Apostle Paul as he charges young Timothy a fledgling pastor and offers advice and encouragement. Definitely a ‘Your mission should you choose to accept it’ moment. Likewise as Templar’s we do well to heed the advice. He makes three comparisons to our faith, to be like a soldier, an athlete and a farmer. All examples about dedication, vigilance and perseverance and none of them ever quit! But all finish their respective tasks boldly for Christ and persevere! As soldiers and prayer warriors we remain laser focused on Christ and our call to dedicated servant hood. Like an athlete we train and prepare always ready and always in top physical, mental and spiritual form and finally like a farmer our work will grow and produce but we still put in the work even though the Holy Spirit will ensure the growth. Let us remain threefold bold for Christ under the instruction of the Apostle Paul! Bringers of The Light in ever darkening times! Amen! Deus Vult brethren!

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own,[b] and his own people[c] did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[d] from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.[e] 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who[f] is at the Father's side,[g] he has made him known.
My morning devotions bring me to John the first chapter. There is a common misconception in the secular world that there are many paths to heaven, countless paths to spirituality in a ‘pick and choose’ three ring circus atmosphere. Many believe their good works solidify their entrance into ‘the pearly gates’. As followers of The Way we have been graced and blessed with salvation through admitting our human failings and need for a savior and our subsequent intimate and ever growing relationship with our Savior The Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ. THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE. So grateful for this Order of stalwart and steadfast brethren willing to hold me accountable to becoming a true follower of The Way. Deus Vult!

Proverbs 31:28–29: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'"
I am truly grateful for the blessing of my wife Susan, and her faithful and prayerful leadership in our home. She is a resilient and strong woman of faith and courage and has stood the test of time. A breast cancer survivor, I never heard her complain once throughout her ordeal, and she has always put our family and her children and grandchildren first. We have been blessed with four amazing children, and yes, she does indeed consider me at times the fifth child. LOL. I treasure her dearly.
As men of God and warriors on the watchtower for our families we certainly could not do it alone and we lift the mothers in prayer and thanksgiving this morning for their vital and important role as we go forth, yoked together in Christ! Amen and God bless you all! Deus Vult!

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Tremendously powerful scripture which I return to often! Just read Pastor Greg Dutcher’s book “Living Free in Enemy Territory” debunks some misconceptions about Satan and alerts us to remaining vigilant and prepared (thank you Sir Rich Roller!) at all times. We prepare for daily battle with the darkness by putting on the full armor of God and remaining vigilant. Why should we do this? Look at King David in 2 Samuel 11:1-5. David lets his guard down, is certainly NOT prepared, and the consequences are tragic indeed. He becomes lazy. Instead of being with his troops he is casually sauntering on his rooftop and a beautiful women bathing nearby catches his attention. He then chooses to watch, lusting after her, then Inviting her over (one mistake after another as he stands there armorless!) This all leads to an unwanted pregnancy and eventually murder and guilt and remorse which he permits to destroy his life and it is only until he pens Psalm 51 after prompting from the prophet Nathan that he finally seeks repentance and forgiveness. All of which could have been avoided had he been prepared and geared up for battle with the FULL armor of God! Let’s be prepared as we enter the weekend and live our Templar values as we seek to be Bold for Christ Jesus! Dearest brethren I am not preaching at you, I need to hear this 24/7! We need to dive into and digest The Living Word and pray without ceasing and tap into that powerful Holy Spirit residing in US ALL! Amen! Be blessed, not stressed! Deus Vult!

Thank you dear brethren for the honor and privilege of being accepted into this visionary and time honored eternal Order. As I enter into prayer and meditation this morning and begin my daily discipline, I cannot help but reflect and rejoice on the wonderful experience of hearing all of your testimonies and witness during last nights Roundtable. I was impressed by Brother Brian Johnson’s personal witness and his reflective comments on liturgical versus evangelical prayer and worship. I embrace our common ground in our believe and dedication to Christ and welcome the diversity found in our various denominational rubrics. SGT Lakeem shared a deeply personal move from evangelical Christianity to embrace what he found edifying in the structured order of the Catholic liturgy and I deeply respect that. Having gravitated myself from a liturgical and structured Lutheran background and now embrace a Baptist theology I appreciate and deeply respect that. I was always told as a Lutheran I was the ‘most Catholic Lutheran ‘ my fellow parishioners had ever seen and today I am willing to embrace every denomination into my worship and praise practice as I believe when Christ said there were many rooms in eternity for us in His heavenly mansion he did not envision specific rooms for baptists, Catholics, Methodists or Orthodox Christians, but embraced the Church Universal. A profound evening of personal witness indeed. My morning devotion centers on Christ being the true Light of the World and being that very light and Sir Rich Roller gave poignant testimony to bringing his brothers through battle as a vessel and guardian of that very light. I thank you all for your military service to our great country and today in service to our Lord and Savior Christ. I recognize and appreciate that coming from a family steeped in military tradition going back to the First World War. I myself was unable to serve due to my vision issues, I will share more about that later. Long story short I was going blind and through His miraculous healing my vision was restored to perfection, unfortunately not in time for me to serve as I was declined at Fort Hamilton back in 1979 and that broke my heart and my spirit. More on that in future shares. But the Lord had plans to prosper and help me and I flourished where He saw fit to plant me. But I appreciate and love you all dearly, and take seriously these vows to assist in my part to help bring the light. I am honored to stand amongst giants and I thank you dearly for helping bring me to a living Faith in Christ Jesus. Amen. Be bold today for Christ! Deus Vult!

I always heard folks say when confronted with what they perceived as a real challenge , ‘Well that’s a tall order!’ It seemed unattainable. A great and wonderful ideal, but served better for those cut from a different cloth. And I think this differentiates between a fan and a follower as outlined by the book ‘Not a Fan’ which I just finished. Now as I tackle ‘The Resolution for Men’ which I have read before, and given copies to all my sons and son in laws previously, I am revisiting this for resolve to live a life committed to Christ. Embracing the virtues of the Knights Templar, called into bold service for Christ, and commanded by Christ to walk with God. There will be daily challenges! But He has given us tremendous POWER, the power of the Holy Spirit within us. So today I claim that power and choose to live in the solution and not the problem. Sometimes I am the problem. So I remember scripture that tells me I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. Even when that seems like a ‘tall order’. Be blessed, not stressed my fellow disciples and be bold for Christ! Deus Vult!

Draw Our Hearts
O Lord Jesus Christ, draw our hearts to you; join them together in inseparable love, that we may abide in you, and you in us, and that the everlasting covenant between us may stand sure forever. O wound our hearts with the fiery darts of your piercing love. Let them pierce through all our slothful members and inward powers, that we, being happily wounded, may so become whole and sound. Let us have no lover but you alone; let us seek no joy or comfort except in you.
Amen.

For the Needy
Dear Lord above, never let me forget about those who are hurting from guilt, shame and other afflictions I may not know about. Show me that I need to remember those who are: sick, imprisoned, lonely, confused, in need of a friend, dying, hungry, spiritually lost in their lives — wandering aimlessly through life. Teach me to comfort my brothers and sisters in their hours of need, wherever they may be. Guide me to look deeply into their hearts and understand.
Teach me to reach out my hands and help them up and feed their souls and hearts with your word, O Lord. Let me never forsake one of my hurting brothers or sisters along life’s way. Grant me the strength to carry forth your will and your way, in bringing all to you, dear Father. I pray this needful prayer through your blessed Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead, our Lord Jesus Christ, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant equip us with every good thing that we may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight; through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.

Yesterday was wonderful! I was blessed with attending two church services partly due to my wife and I have varying challenges in our schedule and partly due to upcoming medical concerns for us both that prompted me moving closer to God. This followed by a Lead Well class where we studied scripture and came up with deeply probing questions as a team to help disciple and shepherd our members. Then capped off in the evening by our churches monthly Prayer Night where we gathered in community to pray over our emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational health concerns. Followed by Father Kelmy’s thought provoking and informative Bible study. Just wow! So very needed! I was reinforced and reminded to pray slowwwwwwwwwwlllllyyyy and with passion and purpose, relishing the Word and digesting it. Reminded by the book of James to not just be hearers of the word but DOERS! To simply read it and walk away without its transformative power challenging us to be bold for Christ would be a disservice.
So this morning I’ve purposely slowed down. As usual I transformed our living room into my morning war room. Candles are lit, I’m positioned before one of the many beautiful crosses which adorn our home and I am comfortably positioned on the couch with our faithful lab curled up alongside. She seems to enjoy this morning respite as well. I pray with purpose and rich intent and I pray the scriptures and I meditate upon them. The chorus of morning songbird melodies have begun and the coffee is fresh and hot and this day I rejoice knowing I sally forth in the full armor of God strengthened for the journey. I am ready to boldly share the Good News of the Gospel. Stay strong brethren! And be blessed that we have leaders in the Order to help encourage and strengthen us to go forth and bring the Light into the darkness. Amen. Deus Vult!

It’s about relationship. I am excited to prepare for worship this morning in my local church and looking forward to a leadership class in the afternoon for those of us blessed to lead what we term ‘LIFEGROUPS’ within our community. Fellow disciples who gather weekly to encourage and support each other and look deeply into scripture and join in prayer. I also take a quick glance at Facebook because over the years I have filtered out the bad and receive mostly a Christian feed, and I always look for the daily postings of a gentleman named Sean Dietrich. He writes and always manages to touch my soul. Him and his wife are starting out on their second spiritual pilgrimage walking the Camino, in Spain. Last year I followed their daily progress and felt as if I were alongside them. I have always dreamed of a similar pilgrimage and with a busted body after 43 years of climbing telephone poles and restoring electric and telecommunication service and responding to crazy storms that’s simply not going to happen. The closest I can get is a solitary walk in the mountains or the beauty of one of the many state parks we are blessed with here on Long Island and within this beautiful state. Time alone in prayer and reflection with Jesus has always been a blessing, and I hope you get an opportunity to follow Sean’s pilgrimage. He’s a good old southern boy with a heart for Christ and a way with words. I wish you all the blessings of your own personal pilgrimage as we journey this path toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray we all find what we are looking for as we travel the pathways alongside Him. The Way. The Truth. The Life. Deus Vult! Amen.
