Many of you may not be aware of what has recently taken place in Canada.
Bill C-9 has now passed.
For many Canadian Christians, this marks a profound turning point.
The legal landscape has changed in ways that place traditional Biblical teachings in conflict with modern law and public policy. Now reading verses about sexual morality can land you in jail for 2-5 years.
For the first time in my 44 years of life, I find myself asking a question that I never imagined I would have to ask in Canada:
Could proclaiming certain Biblical teachings one day carry legal consequences?
That question alone should give us pause.
Throughout history, Christians have often lived in societies where openly proclaiming the Gospel came at a cost.
The first Christians faced imprisonment, persecution, and exclusion.
Yet they remained faithful.
As Templars, we are reminded that courage is not the absence of fear.
It is faithfulness despite uncertainty.
St. Michael did not stand because it was easy.
The Apostles did not preach because it was safe.
And the Templars did not protect pilgrims because the road was free from danger.
They stood because truth was worth defending.
Today, Canadian Christians are entering a season that demands discernment, courage, and unwavering faith.
The world may change.
Laws may change.
Cultures may change.
But the Gospel does not.
