Today, September 19th, be International Talk Like a Pirate Day! So, for one day, let us trade our solemn battle cries for a hearty “Ahoy!”, our “yes” for a “aye,” and set sail upon the seas like the pirates of old.
But even a pirate needs a captain.
And as Christians, we know who truly commands the ship.
God is our captain through every storm. The sea may be calm one day and raging the next. We may lose sight of the shore, face winds we did not expect, or find ourselves sailing into waters we have never traveled before. Yet our faith reminds us that we are never truly navigating alone.
The world may tell us to follow the wind wherever it blows. Christ calls us to hold our course.
So, me hearties, as ye sail through this life, remember:
When the seas are rough, trust in God.
When the waters are dark, follow His light.
When ye lose your way, return to His Word.
And when the storm comes, do not abandon ship—pray, stand firm, and keep the faith.
For the greatest treasure we can seek is not gold buried beneath some forgotten island.
It is faith in God, salvation through Christ, and the promise of eternal life.
So raise the colors, brothers and sisters. Grab the wheel. Face the horizon.
And whatever waters God calls us to cross—let us sail them with courage.
“Some went down to the sea in ships… They saw the works of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep.”
— Psalm 107:23–24
Fair winds, Templar brothers and sisters. May God guide our course, steady our hands, and bring us safely through every storm.
Ahoy, and God bless!
