π INTRODUCTION
The poster contains many beautiful descriptions of Jesus Christ: King, Way, Truth, Saviour, Lord, Healer, Master, Teacher, Shepherd, Everything. But from a Dispensational perspective, these descriptions must be understood through right division.
π 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to be βrightly dividing the word of truth.β
During Christ's earthly ministry, He ministered specifically to βthe lost sheep of the house of Israelβ (Matthew 15:24), confirming God's promises to Israel (Romans 15:8). After Israel's fall, the risen Christ revealed through Paul the previously hidden truth concerning the Body of Christ and the present Dispensation of Grace (Romans 11:13; Ephesians 3:1β9).
Therefore, we should not merely ask, βWho was Jesus during His earthly ministry?β We must also ask, βWho is the risen, glorified Christ to the Body of Christ today?β
Paul's answer is magnificent:
π Colossians 3:11 β ββ¦Christ is all, and in all.β
Our completeness is not found in religion, ceremonies, law-keeping, mystical experiences, or ourselves.
WE ARE COMPLETE IN CHRIST.
1οΈβ£ CHRIST IS OUR SAVIOUR
Our Redemption is Completely in Him
π 1 Timothy 1:15; Titus 3:4β7; Ephesians 1:7
Before Christ becomes the center of our Christian walk, we must first know Him as our Saviour.
The sinner's greatest problem is not poverty, sickness, loneliness, or lack of success.
The sinner's greatest problem is SIN.
A. THE SINNER IS RUINED
π Romans 3:23
βFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.β
Humanity does not merely need improvement.
We need salvation.
Religion can modify behavior, but religion cannot justify an ungodly sinner.
π Romans 3:20
B. THE SAVIOUR REDEEMED
π Ephesians 1:7
βIn whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sinsβ¦β
Christ did not merely come to give us moral advice.
He gave Himself for our sins.
π Galatians 1:4
The saving Gospel for today is clearly declared by Paul:
π 1 Corinthians 15:3β4
Christ died for our sins.
He was buried.
He rose again the third day.
C. THE SALVATION IS RECEIVED
π Ephesians 2:8β9
Salvation is not achieved by:
Water baptism.
Church membership.
Law-keeping.
Religious ceremonies.
Good works.
It is received by grace through faith.
π Romans 4:5
π₯ BEFORE YOU CALL CHRIST YOUR EXAMPLE, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HIM AS YOUR SAVIOUR.
2οΈβ£ CHRIST IS OUR SUFFICIENCY
Our Completeness is Completely in Him
π Colossians 2:9β10
βFor in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in himβ¦β
One of the greatest truths revealed through Paul is the believer's spiritual position IN CHRIST.
Christianity is not simply:
βJesus helps me become a better person.β
Pauline doctrine declares something much greater:
GOD HAS MADE THE BELIEVER COMPLETE IN CHRIST.
A. ACCEPTED IN CHRIST
π Ephesians 1:6
ββ¦he hath made us accepted in the beloved.β
Your acceptance before God is not based upon your daily performance.
It rests upon Christ.
Your performance changes.
Your position in Christ does not.
B. ALIVE IN CHRIST
π Ephesians 2:4β5
ββ¦even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christβ¦β
Christianity is not merely moral reform.
God gives the believer spiritual life in Christ.
π Colossians 2:13
C. ASSURED IN CHRIST
π Ephesians 1:13β14
Having believed the Gospel, the believer is:
ββ¦sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.β
Our security is not based upon our ability to hold onto Christ.
It rests upon God's saving and sealing work.
π Ephesians 4:30
π₯ YOU DON'T NEED SOMETHING ADDED TO CHRIST TO MAKE CHRIST SUFFICIENT.
CHRIST + NOTHING = COMPLETE IN CHRIST.
3οΈβ£ CHRIST IS OUR STANDARD
Our Walk is Completely Centered in Him
π Colossians 2:6β7; Ephesians 5:1β2
Grace does not mean:
βI'm saved, therefore it doesn't matter how I live.β
The same grace that saves us also teaches us.
π Titus 2:11β12
A. FOLLOW CHRIST THROUGH PAUL'S PATTERN
π 1 Corinthians 11:1
βBe ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.β
This is especially important in Dispensational understanding.
Paul does not compete with Christ.
Paul directs us to Christ according to the revelation Christ gave him.
π Galatians 1:11β12
Therefore, following Paul properly means following the risen Christ's doctrine for the Body of Christ.
B. FORM CHRIST IN YOUR CONDUCT
π Galatians 4:19
Paul desired:
ββ¦until Christ be formed in you.β
Sound doctrine should produce sound living.
Grace should affect:
Our speech.
Our relationships.
Our priorities.
Our morality.
Our ministry.
π Ephesians 4:1
C. FOCUS YOUR LIFE ON CHRIST
π Colossians 3:1β4
βSet your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.β
Our identity is heavenly.
Our Head is in heaven.
Our hope is heavenly.
Our conversation is in heaven.
π Philippians 3:20
π₯ THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS NOT SELF AT THE CENTER WITH JESUS AS AN ACCESSORY.
CHRIST MUST BE THE CENTER.
4οΈβ£ CHRIST IS OUR STRENGTH
Our Power is Completely Through Him
π Philippians 4:11β13; 2 Corinthians 12:9β10
The poster calls Jesus our Healer. Here right division becomes especially important.
We must not automatically take Israel's kingdom healing promises and make them unconditional promises of physical healing for the Body of Christ today.
Paul himself experienced physical weakness.
π 2 Corinthians 12:7β10
π 1 Timothy 5:23
π 2 Timothy 4:20
God's answer to Paul was not always physical removal of suffering.
It was:
βMy grace is sufficient for thee.β β 2 Corinthians 12:9
A. STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS
π 2 Corinthians 12:9
Grace does not promise a trouble-free life.
Grace gives sufficiency in trouble.
Paul learned that divine strength could operate through human weakness.
B. STABILITY IN SUFFERING
π Romans 8:35β39
Tribulation cannot separate us from Christ.
Distress cannot separate us from Christ.
Persecution cannot separate us from Christ.
Death itself cannot separate us from God's love in Christ.
C. SUFFICIENCY IN EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE
π Philippians 4:11β13
When Paul said:
βI can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me,β
the context is contentment in changing circumstances, not a blank check for worldly success.
Christ strengthens us to remain faithful whether we abound or suffer need.
π₯ SOMETIMES GOD DOES NOT REMOVE THE BURDENβHE TEACHES US THAT HIS GRACE IS GREATER THAN THE BURDEN.
5οΈβ£ CHRIST IS OUR SUPREMACY
Our Everything is Completely in Him
π Colossians 1:15β18; 3:11
Jesus is not merely one important part of Christianity.
CHRIST IS THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING.
Paul presents Christ as preeminent.
A. CHRIST IS HEAD OF THE BODY
π Colossians 1:18
βAnd he is the head of the body, the churchβ¦β
The Head of the Body is not:
A denomination.
A pastor.
A religious organization.
A human institution.
CHRIST IS THE HEAD.
π Ephesians 1:22β23
B. CHRIST IS HOPE OF GLORY
π Colossians 1:27
ββ¦Christ in you, the hope of glory.β
Our ultimate hope is not earthly prosperity.
The Body of Christ possesses a heavenly hope.
π Philippians 3:20β21
We await the Saviour who will transform our vile body like unto His glorious body.
C. CHRIST IS ALL
π Colossians 3:11
ββ¦Christ is all, and in all.β
This is where the entire message culminates.
Christ is not merely someone we add to our lives.
For the believer:
Christ is our righteousness.
Christ is our redemption.
Christ is our peace.
Christ is our life.
Christ is our hope.
π Colossians 3:4
βWhen Christ, who is our life, shall appearβ¦β
π₯ CHRIST IS NOT SIMPLY PART OF THE BELIEVER'S LIFEβCHRIST IS OUR LIFE.
π£ CALL TO ACTION β THREE βC'sβ
1οΈβ£ COME TO CHRIST BY FAITH
π 1 Corinthians 15:1β4; Romans 4:5
Do not merely admire Jesus.
Do not merely study Jesus.
Do not merely imitate Jesus.
TRUST what He accomplished for you.
Believe that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again.
2οΈβ£ CONTINUE IN CHRIST'S DOCTRINE
π Colossians 2:6β7
βAs ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.β
Be:
Rooted in truth.
Built up in doctrine.
Established in faith.
Study God's Word rightly divided.
π 2 Timothy 2:15
3οΈβ£ CENTER EVERYTHING ON CHRIST
π Colossians 3:17
Whatever you do:
Marriage β Christ.
Family β Christ.
Ministry β Christ.
Work β Christ.
Decisions β Christ.
Preaching β Christ.
Christianity is not ultimately about making ME successful.
It is about Christ being magnified.
π Philippians 1:20β21
π CONCLUSION
There is an important progression:
You can call Jesus Teacher and still need salvation.
You can call Jesus Master and still fail to understand His finished work.
You can admire Jesus as Healer while misunderstanding God's present program.
You can acknowledge Him as King without understanding the distinction between Israel's earthly kingdom program and the Body of Christ's heavenly calling.
But when you understand Paul's Gospel, you see the risen Christ in the fullness of His saving work:
HE DIED FOR OUR SINS.
HE WAS BURIED.
HE ROSE AGAIN.
WE BELIEVE.
WE ARE JUSTIFIED.
WE ARE SEALED.
WE ARE PLACED INTO CHRIST.
AND WE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM.
π Colossians 2:10
βAnd ye are complete in himβ¦β
