Paul wrote these words immediately after warning that the last days would bring lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient, ungrateful, unholy people — without love, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good. Sound familiar? This isn't commentary on today's headlines. This is a 2,000-year-old letter that reads like this morning's news.
But here's what Paul didn't want us to miss: right after the warning comes the remedy. God's Word. Breathed out by God Himself. Sufficient to teach, correct, rebuke, and train us in righteousness for every single thing we will face in these days. The moral collapse around us is real. But the Word of God is more real, more powerful, and more permanent than anything this world can throw at us.
You were not left without a weapon. You were not left without a guide. Open it. Read it. Stand on it. 🙏
