I've often found that the secular world will "tell us where it hurts". I listen for this in many avenues of life.
The popular show Fallout has an obviously stylized and quasi monastic order of knights. So I listened to what they see when they think of folks like us. A quote stuck out to me.
A young Knight said the following to a squire when asked why he cleans his armor and takes the time to ritualistically clean himself up in a world that doesn't really value such things anymore.

To fix a fallen world?
Sometimes. In order to make a big problem something you can handle, you gotta make it small. So we start by bettering ourselves. And you can do that in all sorts of ways, you know. Self-discipline, generosity, valor. And not smelling really bad."
The world is a truly difficult and hurting place. In order for us as Knights of this holy order we are called to make those little changes in ourselves, and be better as this is something we CAN control so that we are now better equipped to take on the larger more unruly world.
Building up a prayer time, finding the time to get into the word or be present at worship, doing the little things that build Christian character are vital parts of our duty so that we can serve the Kingdom to the best of our abilities.

Please be in prayer for myself and my family as both my Aunt Eileen and my best friend of 30+ years are both on hospice and do not seem long for this world.
