An ancient Christian tradition tells of a young man who dreamed of becoming a Knight Templar. He imagined shining armor, noble processions, and the admiration of many. Believing greatness was found in honor, he eagerly sought the Cross of the Order.
On the day of his investiture, an elderly Knight placed a hand upon his shoulder and said, "If you seek a crown that men can see, you will soon grow weary. But if you seek the crown that God alone prepares, you will never lose heart."
The young Knight did not fully understand those words.
In the years that followed, he discovered that true knighthood was not measured by ceremonies, titles, or applause. It was revealed in quiet acts of faith kneeling in prayer before dawn, comforting a grieving family, feeding the hungry without expecting thanks, defending truth with humility, and standing firm for Christ when the world chose another path.
His armor became worn, not from seeking glory, but from carrying the burdens of others. His hands became calloused, not from holding a sword, but from lifting the fallen. His heart became strong, not through power, but through obedience to the Gospel.
Many never knew his name.
Yet wherever he served, hope was restored, faith was strengthened, and the love of Christ was made visible.
When his earthly journey came to its end, the elderly Knight's words returned to him. He realized that the greatest honor of a Knight Templar had never been the Cross upon his mantle, but the Cross he carried faithfully within his heart.
Such is the greatness of a true Knight Templar. We are called not to seek recognition, but righteousness; not to pursue earthly praise, but eternal purpose; not merely to wear the symbols of our Order, but to live the virtues they represent.
May every Knight of the OMSDT Knight Templars Order be remembered as a faithful servant of Christ steadfast in prayer, courageous in truth, rich in mercy, and unwavering in love.
"Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58
