⚔️ THE TEMPLAR MINDSET
Preparedness is not about living in fear.
It is about responsibility.
A prepared household is better able to protect its family, help its neighbors, and remain calm when others may be struggling.
DO NOT WAIT FOR THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT BEFORE YOU START PREPARING.
This week, take action.
Check your flashlights.
Charge your power banks.
Store water.
Buy extra batteries.
Build an emergency food supply.
Make sure your family knows the plan.
Then take the next step.

This week, take action.

Make sure your family knows the plan.
Then take the next step.
Add a lantern.
Add a radio.
Add backup power.
Work toward a generator or home battery system if your situation and budget allow.
Every Templar household should have a basic emergency plan and enough supplies to get through a serious power outage safely.
Prepare your home. Protect your family. Be ready to help your neighbor.
When trouble comes, let us be the people who are prepared—not the people asking what to do next.⚔️ BE PREPARED: WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT ⚔️
A power outage can last a few minutes, several hours, or even days. Storms, wildfires, equipment failures, extreme temperatures, and other emergencies can leave a family without lights, heat, refrigeration, communications, or the ability to cook.
Preparedness does not have to be expensive. Start small, add a few items at a time, and build a dependable emergency plan for your household.
LOW-COST BASICS
🔦 Flashlights for each member of the household
🔋 Extra batteries
💡 Battery-powered or rechargeable LED lanterns
🕯️ Candles and matches or lighters for emergency backup
📻 Battery-powered emergency radio
🔌 Portable phone power banks
🧊 A small cooler and reusable ice packs
🥫 Several days of easy-to-prepare food
💧 Drinking water stored for emergencies
🧥 Blankets, warm clothing, and sleeping bags
🩹 First-aid kit
💵 A small amount of emergency cash
LED lanterns and flashlights should be your first choice for lighting. If candles are used, keep them away from children, pets, curtains, paper, bedding, and anything that can burn. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
STEP UP YOUR PREPAREDNESS
As your budget allows, consider adding:
🔋 Larger rechargeable battery banks
☀️ Portable solar chargers
📻 Hand-crank emergency radio
🍳 Camping-style cooking equipment designed for safe outdoor use
🧊 Higher-quality coolers for protecting food
💡 Rechargeable area lights
🔥 Safe backup heating options appropriate for your home
🚰 Additional water storage and filtration equipment
GENERATOR PREPAREDNESS
A portable generator can keep refrigerators, freezers, lights, communication equipment, and other essentials operating during a prolonged outage.
⚠️ GENERATOR SAFETY IS CRITICAL
Never operate a gasoline, propane, or other fuel-burning generator inside a house, garage, basement, shed, enclosed porch, or near doors and windows. Carbon monoxide can build up quickly and can be deadly.
Place generators outdoors and well away from the home according to the manufacturer's safety instructions.
Every home using fuel-burning equipment should also have working carbon monoxide alarms.
Never connect a portable generator directly to household wiring unless the proper transfer equipment has been professionally installed. Improper connections can create dangerous electrical conditions.
HIGHER-END PREPAREDNESS
Families wanting greater independence during an extended outage may consider:
⚡ Whole-house standby generators
🔋 Home battery backup systems
☀️ Solar panels combined with battery storage
⛽ Properly stored generator fuel where legally and safely permitted
🔌 Professionally installed generator transfer switches
🚰 Larger emergency water storage systems
📡 Backup communication equipment
You do not need everything at once.
A flashlight today.
A lantern next month.
A power bank after that.
Eventually, perhaps a generator or home battery system.
Preparedness is built one step at a time.
MAKE A FAMILY POWER-OUTAGE PLAN
Know where your emergency supplies are kept.
Keep flashlights where they can be found in the dark.
Keep phones and power banks charged when severe weather is expected.
Know how to safely shut off equipment if necessary.
Have a plan for children, elderly family members, pets, and anyone who depends on electrically powered medical equipment.
Check emergency supplies several times each year and replace expired food, damaged batteries, or worn equipment.

I am a new Member and have been assigned to the Joan of Arc Priority and was instructed to contact you via BeliefBook of which I’ve also established myself and wrote a little about myself. I have long felt a connection to the Knights Templar and I have discussed this with a close friend who recommended this Order. He and I have decided to join although he lives in a different State than do I. I view this as both a Spiritual Journey and for standing up for what is right! I am alarmed ... more
