BREATHE INTO THE DRY BONES
Scripture:
«“This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.”
— Ezekiel 37:5»
There are seasons when life can feel like a valley filled with dry bones. Dreams seem forgotten. Hope feels distant. Strength is gone, and what once had life appears completely beyond restoration.
But Ezekiel 37 reminds us that God is not intimidated by dry bones.
God brought Ezekiel into the valley and asked him, “Can these bones live?” Human eyes could see only death and impossibility. But God saw potential for restoration.
Then God commanded Ezekiel to speak His word over the bones. Bone came together with bone. Sinews appeared. Flesh covered them. But something was still missing: breath.
Then God said:
«“Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.”
— Ezekiel 37:9»
And breath entered them, and they stood on their feet as a vast army.
This is what God can do.
He can breathe into a marriage that feels broken.
He can breathe into a calling that feels forgotten.
He can breathe into faith that has grown weak.
He can breathe into a heart that has become discouraged.
He can breathe new hope into places where you see only endings.
You may see dry bones, but God sees what they can become when His Spirit gives them life.
Do not give up simply because you cannot see movement yet. Keep speaking God's Word. Keep praying. Keep trusting. The same God who brought life to the valley of dry bones is still the God who restores, renews, and gives life.
TODAY'S THOUGHT
What looks dead to me is not beyond God's ability to restore.
PRAYER
Lord, breathe Your life into every dry and broken place within me. Where my hope has died, bring new hope. Where my strength has failed, renew me. Where I have stopped believing, teach me to trust You again. Speak Your Word over my life and let Your Spirit bring life to what I thought was beyond restoration. Make me stand again, stronger in faith and ready to serve You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
ACTION STEP
Identify one area of your life that feels like “dry bones.” Instead of declaring that it is finished, pray over it today and place it completely in God's hands.
Remember: God can bring breath where you see only bones.
Have a blessed day
