TRUST NO ONE
“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans.”

TRUST NO ONE
“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans.”
— Psalm 118:8
There are moments in life when people disappoint us. Someone we trusted may betray our confidence, break a promise, turn their back on us, or reveal that their intentions were not what we thought.
Those experiences can leave a deep wound. They can make us say, “I will never trust anyone again.”
But God does not call us to live as prisoners of suspicion. He calls us to learn where our ultimate trust belongs.
People are imperfect. Even those who love us can fail us. Leaders can make mistakes. Friends can change. Circumstances can shift. But God remains faithful.
Proverbs 3:5 says:
«“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”»
The lesson is not necessarily “trust no one.” The deeper lesson is:
Do not place in people what belongs to God.
You can love people without making them your foundation.
You can forgive people without giving them unlimited access to your life.
You can show kindness while maintaining wisdom and healthy boundaries.
You can trust someone appropriately while remembering that only God deserves absolute trust.
Jesus Himself understood the hearts of people. John 2:24 says that He “did not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people.”
Jesus loved people, served people, and died for people—but He remained completely surrendered to the Father.
That is the balance we need.
When people fail you, don't let their failure become the reason you stop trusting God.
When someone betrays you, bring the wound to God.
When someone proves unfaithful, ask God for wisdom rather than allowing bitterness to control your heart.
Your confidence does not have to rest on who stays, who leaves, who understands you, or who approves of you.
Your confidence can rest in the One who never changes.
TODAY'S REFLECTION
Ask yourself:
- Have I placed too much of my trust in people?
- Has someone's betrayal caused me to become bitter or suspicious?
- Where do I need stronger boundaries?
- Am I trusting God even when people disappoint me?
PRACTICAL ACTION
Today, release one disappointment to God.
Instead of saying, “I can trust nobody,” pray:
“Lord, teach me to love people wisely, recognize character clearly, establish healthy boundaries, and place my ultimate trust in You.”
PRAYER
Father,
People have disappointed me, and sometimes their actions have made me afraid to trust again. Heal the places where I have been wounded by betrayal and disappointment.
Give me wisdom to recognize whom I can trust and discernment to know where boundaries are necessary.
Help me not to become bitter, suspicious, or hardened. Teach me to love without being naïve, forgive without forgetting wisdom, and trust without making people my foundation.
Above all, teach me to trust You.
You are faithful when others fail.
You remain when others leave.
You keep Your promises when others break theirs.
My ultimate trust belongs to You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
DECLARATION
I will not live controlled by fear or betrayal.
I will walk in wisdom, love with discernment, maintain healthy boundaries, and place my ultimate trust in God.
“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is the Rock eternal.” — Isaiah 26:4
Have a blessed day
