Breaking the Chains
Scripture: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36
There are chains that cannot always be seen. Chains of fear, guilt, unforgiveness, addiction, bitterness, shame, anger, disappointment, and the mistakes of our past can quietly hold us captive. We may learn to live with them until bondage begins to feel normal.
But Jesus did not come to make us comfortable in our chains. He came to set us free.

Breaking the Chains

There are chains that cannot always be seen. Chains of fear, guilt, unforgiveness, addiction, bitterness, shame, anger, disappointment, and the mistakes of our past can quietly hold us captive. We may learn to live with them until bondage begins to feel normal.
But Jesus did not come to make us comfortable in our chains. He came to set us free.
The enemy wants you to believe that your past defines you, that your failures disqualify you, or that you will always be trapped by the things that have held you down. But the cross tells a different story. Jesus paid the price for your freedom.
Breaking chains begins with surrender. We must bring our burdens honestly before God and allow Him to deal with the places we have tried to hide. Sometimes freedom comes instantly; sometimes God leads us through a process of repentance, healing, forgiveness, and renewed thinking. But whatever the process, Christ is faithful to finish what He begins.
You don't have to keep wearing chains that Jesus has already broken.
Let go of the bitterness.
Let go of the guilt.
Let go of the fear.
Let go of the past.
Let go of the need to control everything.
Give it to Christ.
Today, choose freedom. Do not return to the prison God has opened. Walk forward in the liberty that Christ has purchased for you.
A Prayer
Lord Jesus,
I bring before You every chain that has been holding me captive. Break the chains of fear, guilt, sin, bitterness, unforgiveness, and everything that keeps me from walking fully with You. Give me courage to surrender what I have been holding onto. Renew my mind, restore my heart, and teach me to walk in the freedom You have given me. Help me never to return to the chains You have broken.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
