In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” This verse is part of His farewell teaching to the disciples just before His departure to the cross.

Falsely accused and stood trial before Herod (Matthew 27:11-14; Mark 15:2-5; Luke 23:1-5; John 18:28-37), sent to Herod (Luke 23:6-12)

The disciples would hide in the upper room—unsure and mourning the death of their leader. Jesus had promised them His peace, but it is unlikely they understood what He meant until the miraculous happened.
John 20:19 (NTL) reads…on “Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said (John 20:19 NLT).
